What can I say about this Head? It's just amazing the sound you get from this amp with the original 4 x 12 cabinet. The thing screams, growls, pulses and crunches. It will do it louder and stronger than anything I HAVE TESTED in the last three years! My old guitarist had a 100 watt set up like this one and it's just what I remember from those days and it's a 50 watt head! Amazing!
Here's some online notes...
The Laney AOR Series 50 Watt Pro Tube Lead is a vintage 1980s all-tube guitar amplifier head known for its powerful, high-gain tones, often compared to a Marshall JCM800 but with added tonal versatility. Its "Advanced Overdrive Response" series is famous for producing a wide range of sounds, from classic British rock to modern high-gain crunch, thanks to its dual-channel design, push-pull EQ pots, and extra preamp valve.
Key features
- Power and tubes: It's a 50-watt all-tube head that uses two JJ matched EL34 tubes in the power section and four 12AX7 preamp tubes.
- High-gain response: The "Advanced Overdrive Response" series was designed for higher gain and includes an additional preamp valve for a wider range of tones than some competitors.
- Versatile tone control:
-
- Dual-channel: It has a dual-channel design for both clean and overdriven tones.
- Push-pull EQ: The amplifier's EQ controls are "push-pull," allowing you to boost specific frequencies for more tonal options, such as more crunch or bite.
- Separate EQs: Each channel has its own EQ section for precise tone shaping.
- Construction: The head is built to be rugged and reliable for both live gigs and studio use.
- Channel/Volume controls: It features separate preamp and master volume controls, as well as a standby switch.
